The Mariánské Lázně Golf Club course is an example of the classic type of Scottish and Irish courses of its time. The course lies on a plateau 787 meters above sea level. It was founded in 1905 and is therefore the oldest playground in our territory. The course was built under the direction of Scottish professional Robert Doig from Musselburgh.
The course forms a compact, clearly demarcated area, from which only two holes completed in 1978 deviate to replace the two too short and cramped holes of the original one. The greens are very small but well-protected bunkers compared to the newly built courses. The course is mostly flat. At first glance, it may seem easy, but there are a number of pitfalls during the game that require precise technical play.
It is largely surrounded by coniferous forests, which makes it pleasant even on very hot summer days. In many places there is a view of the surrounding landscape, which is natural and is not disturbed by any buildings. The air is full of oxygen and saturated with ozone and is therefore a real caress for your lungs.
The most beautiful period is the "Indian summer", when various species of trees acquire colorful colors with wonderful visibility. The autumn in Mariánské Lázně gives many the impression of a golf paradise.
The description of the course is taken from the book "The Key to Czech Golf Courses" (published by Kargomedia). The author of the description of the playground in Mariánské Lázně is Petr Mrůzek.
