The founding meeting of the Park Golf Club Ostrava, as one of the sports sections of the Physical Education Unity NHKG, took place on June 20, 1968. However, its history began much earlier when its first president, Ing. Jan Cieslar, became enchanted by golf during his stay in Mariánské Lázně in 1954. He made significant efforts to build a golf course in the Ostrava region. After several years of searching for a suitable location, together with other enthusiasts, they discovered a neglected castle park in Šilheřovice in 1967, and it was decided that the golf course would be established there.

According to Ing. Cieslar's design, the third eighteen-hole course in former Czechoslovakia (after Mariánské Lázně and Karlovy Vary) was built mostly through self-help efforts of the first club members in an area of nearly two hectares of English park between 1968 and 1970. In the autumn of 1970, the first Ostrava tournament took place there with the participation of the entire Czechoslovak golf elite. The course's quality gradually improved over time while preserving Cieslar's original layout, which incorporated the holes into the park as if Anselm Salomon Mayer, the Freiherr von Rothschild, who had the park redesigned into its final form in the mid-19th century, had planned them. From the perspective of a golf architect and player, it is the only full-park golf course in the Czech Republic, and such courses are rare worldwide. We are rightfully proud of this unique symbiosis of golf, the park, and cultural monuments.

The park also includes a Palm Greenhouse, which the golf club members rescued from complete destruction. After reconstruction between 1976 and 1981, it became the clubhouse. Extensive renovations were carried out between 2016 and 2017, adapting the premises to meet modern requirements.

Throughout its existence, Park Golf Club Ostrava not only brought golf to the Ostrava region and fostered generations of athletes but also significantly contributed to the preservation of one of the most valuable English parks in our country.
